About Charlton Village...

Surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, Charlton Village nestles around a small river at the bottom of the valley some 2 miles from the centre of Andover. This idyllic location has been a settlement since Saxon times and still retains a quintessential Hampshire village character with its thatch cottages, flint and brick houses. In recent years there has been some major development, but Charlton still retains a friendly welcoming image.

This is further enhanced by a unique Church with its distinguished checkerboard knapped flint exterior, two grocery shops and vibrant well used typically English public house.

Leisure activities are well catered for within the Charlton outdoor leisure complex hosting a 9 hole golf course, running track, all weather football and hockey pitches, plus the normal cricket and football locations. There is also a popular Café adjacent to the fishing and boating lakes and Children’s adventure playground.

The highly acclaimed Salto Gymnastic Centre is located within the main village area. Playgroups, Brownies, Scouts are well contended for at St Thomas’ Church Community Hall. The Village is in a fortunate location to have a Primary, Junior and Senior School all within a safe walking distance, in nearby Andover.

One must not forget the adult activities there are, also centred on the community hall with a strong vibrant WI, line dancing, pensioner and Church groups. Overseeing the general well-being of the village and its activities is the Parish Council, the focal point of contact for the villagers.
